RESPECT, is it better now than in the 1890's?
Sorry, I just posted this, but it was not clear. I hope this is better.
I wrote a book about this. Is it better now? Do we have less wife and child abuse now without corporal punishment? Do we have more respect, more love? I don't think so. We have changed the rules in a way that has never been done before in human history. We have taken enforcable rules out of the home and replaced them with disrespect. 'That is the reason I wrote RESPECT, to compare the two. To compare an age past in which the roles of men and women were defined in a way consistent with nature, our bodies and roles as mothers and fathers. I see problems in many of those changes. To paddle a person out of love to correct negative behavior, when they know they need it, and cooperate, is not the same as hitting or attacking someone. So often in modern society we don't differentiate this. In this story, the punishments are well thought out and delivered as they should be, not as attacks, but the acts of a love to help those paddled to be better people, the people the father knows them to be. It should be noted that the father never disciplines when he is angry. He does it out of love. I know many people's experience is not this. Others it is. Our modern lives are improved in so many ways. In others I think we have made changes inconsistent with the real world. Is this the reason we now have more people in prision than at any other time in history? Is this the reason we have more real child and wife abuse than at any other time in recorded history? I think it is at least part of the reason. What do you think? If you want to look at the book, or other short stories on this subject please go to my web site. Everything there is focused on positive values, trying to share the love of family, God, being good people with others. There are no popups or other harrassments, the short stories are free. The Curfew, is one that is quite good in dealing with this same subject. The books are downloadable, on a promise of doing one hours work or donating the value of one hour of your labor to a good cause or God. The entire work is not about selling anyone anything. It is about love, God's love, a mother or father's love, a child's love for a parent, and husbands and wives loving each other and their families. thanks Sharon http://www.e-lovestories.com |
