Another reason to avoid C-sections if not vital...
Hi all...
I was listening to a radio documentary today that was all about women in Surrey B.C., who had c-sections at the general hospital there. Thirteen of them in the space of a few months got terrible staph infections that led to various consequences from long-term antibiotic use to sterility. It was obviously a bacteria problem at the hospital, but they couldn't pinpoint where the bugs were coming from, and they kept infecting women. And the reporter went on to say there are clusters of similar reports in nearly every region of the country. Of course, this wouldn't happen in every case...and if a c-section is medically necessary, the risks of possible infection would be outweighed by the need to ensure the safety of mom and baby. But for those on the fence and considering a c-section as an elective proceedure...it's definitely something to think about. L.A. |
