Having the Mirena inserted was about $650. It lasts
5 years, and so is cheaper than Depo (my insurance
doesn't pay for either.)

I don't know the price of any other IUD.

My copper-T was $350 plus $50 for the office visit, and a copper-T lasts
10 years. My insurance did not cover any of it, but it is still very
cost-effective when averaged out over 10 years. Much less than bcp, and
I don't have to remember to take it every day - that's what I like!
Insertion was not what I'd call painful, just uncomfortable. I've never
looked at Depo so can't comment on that.

Cleaning the house while your children are small is like
shoveling the sidewalk while it's still snowing.

My midwife charged $300 for the IUD (Paragard) and $100 insertion
fee. My insurance paid for the insertion but not for the IUD
itself. I plan on having another child in 2 years, so its not
as cost effective as it would be if I kept it for 10 years, but
for me, the benefit of not really having to worry about birth
contol outweighed the cost. My second child was conceieved when
my first was 8 months old... which was totally a surprise and
a major freak out for me and I don't want to repeat those
emotions again.

I am loving my IUD now (had it for 1 month), although I
am experiencing a lot more vaginal discharge (sometimes
tinged with blood) than in the past. I am bfing a 3 month
old so I haven't had a period with it in yet.
