But, anyways... Things have been pretty good over here lately. Some days good, other days not so good. Generally, though, it's been alright. Welcome back, anyways, although I still can't remember you from 3 years ago, but once I think about it, I have enough trouble remembering what happened 3 hours ago, nevermind 3 years ago! |

New Again
Well, my name is Jennifer and I have a 5 year old daughter Ryli.
However, back then her name was spelled Rylee. I had it changed. We live here in London ON, Canada. Ryli has been in and out of the hospital since she was born. I believe the last time I posted is when she was going in to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto. I had to dissconnect my internet so I could save the money for her. Ryli has had tests run for Porphyria type AIP. They have come back slightly possitive, but a specialist in Montreal has ruled it out. Good for us. Ryli is still having problems and her specialist here thinks her bowel is swallowing itself or is twisting or knotting up. Every time Ryli is in pain, we have to rush her to the hospital cus surgery is the only way to fix it. But, most of the time, by the time we get there, either the pain is gone or they can't get her in fast enough for x-ray and ultrasound to prove that this is what's going on cus she's vomiting and not stable. Also, he has put her on a trial period for this drug for Stomach Migrains. This is what I believe she has. She's been on the drug for over a week and so far, no pains. Which means no vomiting, which means no dehydration and no more hospital stays. Her pains have been so severe in the past that she has vomited herself to dehydration and hospitalization. So, this is what we're going through right now. I had to quit my job cus we were at the hospital so much. But, Ryli is in school. Every other day. But, I don't send her if she wakes up with pain. Even if it's mild and has only lasted 5 minutes. Other than that, everything else is going good. And, I hope to get reconnected with all of you once again. ryligirl wrote: Hi everyone. The Children's Hospital in TO is fantastic, as far as hospitals go (I am NOT a fan of doctors and hospitals and all that) Ryli has had tests run for Porphyria type AIP. They have come back slightly possitive, but a specialist in Montreal has ruled it out. Good for us. Poor girl! I can't imagine how that would be to deal with - for both you and her. I was all in a tizzy and running around like a complete moron on the one occasion B was hospitialized... I couldn't even drive (given the circumstances for the hospital and the kid and all that) and even the time not long ago that he smashed his noggin wide open again on his operation spot and I had to rush him to the doctor, I realized I really don't handle emergency situations AT ALL. At least, though, what she's on seems to be helping her and she's even able to be in school! So, this is what we're going through right now. I had to quit my job cus we were at the hospital so much. But, Ryli is in school. Every other day. But, I don't send her if she wakes up with pain. Even if it's mild and has only lasted 5 minutes. Aww... Poor kid, and so young. She must be a tough little girl! (And you too) I'm actually not even sure what "Porphyria type AIP" is, but, hopefully this new medication she's on will help! Other than that, everything else is going good. And, I hope to get reconnected with all of you once again. ryligirl wrote: Hi everyone. It's been awhile. Well 3 years since I last posted. How frustrating it must be to be only moments from being able to have a corrective surgery. I hope this new medication she is taking continues to keep her pain free. I just hate to hear of a child suffering like that.Take care of yourself , you are a special mom, remember to take special care of you! hugs for you both, Bev |
